Yevgeny Viktorovich sat in the same bus, when in October 2018 my trip took me back to Tver from the upper Volga region. We noticed each other long before a conversation started. He had this fatherly way of speaking to me and it turned out he was, like my own late father so often in his past, returning from a zoological expedition. This journey had taken him to the Valdai hills, where the headwater of the Volga flows and his main region of interest.
The specialist for slugs later wrote to me in one of his very detailed emails that he wasn‘t satisfied at all with his portrait because he wasn‘t wearing adequate clothes for a photo - and included a «civilized» image of himself.
He couldn’t have made me happier.
