This winter landscape was taken near Levino in the Rybinsk District in 2020. We were following a Yandex route short-cut which took us deeper and deeper into the white. The road was getting worse every meter, the tyres started spinning and I was gradually reminded of Tolstoy‘s tragic short story „Master and Man“.
The image to me is the paradigm of Русское поле - Russian Field, a song so wonderfully intonated by Yan Frenkel.
It now hangs in the suburbs of Saratov, a great Volga city.
